Book donation by Jeff Rubin
The CKA library now contains several copies of The Last Flight of the El Flako by Robert J. Steel, which was generously donated by Jeff Rubin. The Last Flight of the El Flako tells the story of the first and last flight of the plane in World War II. You can read about Bombardier 2Lt Malcom Rubin, son of Hannah and Isaac Rubin, who is buried in the Shomray section of our cemetery, along with his parents. The author, who is the nephew of one of the airmen in the book and has ties to our area, has been covering the country visiting the gravesites of the airmen. He came to Elmira this fall and Andra Frank, along with Jeff Rubin and others, were in attendance for a very meaningful ceremony. Malcom was Jeff and Andra's late husband Richard's first cousin.
Please feel free to take a copy of this meaningful book. Read it, and pass it on to others. In our trying times, when so many have given their lives to free us of hate, it is important to reflect on and honor their sacrifice.
